Sold out one used textbook on Amazon.ca

I try to sell my used textbooks online. I have compared Amazon with ebay. At last, I chose Amazon.ca since Amazon won’t charge the customers any money until their goods are sold. The customers can list their goods and then, cancel them for free.

For these textbooks, Amazon would charge $1.49 transaction fee, 15% commission fee, and the $0.24 closing fee for one textbook if it is sold.

I listed my used textbooks on Aamazon.ca about July 3. On Aug. 19, one textbook is sold. I charged CAD$75 for that book, plus the standard posting fee of Amazon.ca. I narraw the shipping place to Canada since the posting fee may take all, or even more than the benefits if I post the book out of Canada. For this book, Amazon took around CAD$12, I got around CAD$68. The buyer paid CAD$75 + CAD$6.49 shipping fee.

According to the manual of Amazon.ca, for a new seller, every 14 days, Amazon will transfer the money to the customers’ bank accounts automatically. And it can be up to 5 days banking days for the money to arrive the seller’s bank account.

Recently I will deliver the book by myself to the buyer since he is also in Toronto and am waiting Amazon to transfer the money to my bank account.

Aug.29, 2010:

On Aug. 28, Amazon sent me an email saying that they have initiated a transfer to my bank account. Funds usually arrive within 3 – 5 banking day.

Today, I handed in the book to the buyer.

Added:

On Aug. 31,  CDN$68.51 arrived my banking account from Amazon.ca.
