Captain Robert A. Bartlett – OFCD Single Stamp

A notable Canadian ice navigator and Arctic explorer, Captain Robert Bartlett is credited with having taken a ship further north than anyone before him. Canada Post will issue a single stamp in his honour.

Home Children – OFDC Lower Left Corner

The Home Children commemorative stamp features an image of the SS Sardinian (a ship that carried Home Children from Liverpool to Quebec). Other design elements include a map symbolizing their cross-Atlantic journey, a photograph of a child at work on a farm and one of a newly arrived Home Child, standing beside a suitcase. The stamp was designed by Adams+Associates Design Consultants. Cancelled in Ottawa, Ontario.

They’re whimsical, whacky and definitely hard to miss—uniquely Canadian roadside attractions. Featured this time around in the ongoing Roadside Attraction series are: a 7.3 metre-tall coffee pot in Davidson, Saskatchewan; a giant Happy Rock in Gladstone, Manitoba, an enormous Atlantic Puffin in Longue-Point-de-Mingan, Quebec; and huge large steel Wawa Goose in Wawa, Ontario. Cancelled in Davidson, Saskatchewan.
