Windows 7 can’t connect to the Internet (solved)

I have two computers: one is running Windows Vista, and the other one is running Windows 7. The Vista one can connect to the Internet but the Windows 7 can’t. Then I thought that maybe it’s problem about Windows 7. I searched on the Internet and found quite a few people had the similar problem and shared some solutions.

Here is what I have done to solove the problem:

1) Right-click the “Internet” icon on the right bottom on the screen to open “Network and Sharing Center”;

2) In the popup window, click to open “Manage Network Connections”;

3) Highlight the wireless connection, right-click the mouse, in the popup window, click “properites”;

4) in the popup window, uncheck “Internet Protocol Version 6”; I am not sure if it’s ok if check it;

5) This step is most important: highlight “Internet Protocol Version 4”, click “properties”;

6) In the popup window, check “Use the following IP address”, input IP address, DNS Server address etc..

Here is an example:
IP address: 192.168.1.103
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.1.1

Perferred DNS Server: 192.168.1.1

If you don’t know the IP address, find one computer which connects to the Internet. In the space bar on the start menu, input “cmd” to open “Dos” window. Put in “ipconfig /all”, the information about router will be listed. The last number of IP address – in the example is 103 – should be different from other computers in the same network. Otherwise, the computer can’t connect to the Internet because of IP address confliction.

Good luck!
