Sell on eBay (3): one item is sold

Today, one item listed on eBay.ca was successfully sold and the customer sent the payment soon.

The price is quite low, but this deal is quite helpful to learn how many fees need to pay for selling on eBay.

The price: US $0.01
shipping and handling fee:  US $6.00

Since I’m a new seller, this money is in the “pending” status in my PayPal account now. It will be released after up to 21 days. Here I just try to know how much I paid for fees.

On my PayPal account, I get $5.47 in pending. It means that 0.47 for fees.

I checked my eBay account (go to “account”->”Account Activity” or “Fees”), the final fee is 0.00. I shows that the final fee is 9% times the price, not including shipping and handling fee.

I checked the PayPal fees: for “get paid”, every transaction, the fee is 1.9% – 2.9 % and 0.3 CAD. For the webpage, it shows Canadian dollars. It should be similar to US dollars.

Here, the amount of payment is little, so it’s 2.9%. 2.9% * 6.01 + 0.30 = 0.47. That’s it.
