Is it legal to take photos of some police on duty?

M: is it legal to take photos of some police on duty?
M: For example, when they are arresting some people.
U: technically it is legal if its in a public place
M: oh, i c.
U: however some police don’t like being on video
M: true. I understand.
U: so…again it is a case of good judgement
M: In China, if some police or some people sent by the gov’t are beating people or arresting people,
U: and better to hide and do it
U: instead of standing in front of them
M: you may be arrested if you take photos of them, or beat to death.
M: oh, i c.
U: i have taken photos of Russian, German, and japanese police
U: and no problem
U: they even posed
M: 🙂
M: they must be proud of the job they do.
U: they didn’t feel threatened i guess
M: (nod)
M: at least they weren’t afraid that those photos would be posted online.
U: its legal to take pictures in public places…and the police are considered public
M: 🙂
M: oh, i c.
