How to apply interest relief and do “lump sum” payment of student loans

Here refers to Canada-Ontario Integrated Student loans and is under some conditions.

About interest relief, you need to call this number:
1-888-815-4514 (The National Student Loans Service Centre, NSLSC)

I’m not sure if 1-888 is a toll free number, but you can use Gmail call, which is free to call the phones in Canada and USA now.

The lady from NSLSC said that you can apply for interest relief for 6 months one time, but you need to apply after those 6 months. For examply, for the interest relief from May to Oct., you should apply on Nov. . And you are not adviced to apply online. You need to call NSLSC before you do it.

That lady also said, if one-time payment is done now, the interest needs to be paid, unless after 6 months, the interet relief is applied and approved.

In addition, it’s quite easy to pay off the loan. If you have an internet banking account, you can call NSLSC and the staff will tell you how much loan you need to pay in total and how to transfer the money to pay the loan by “pay bills” on the banking webpage, or and let NSLSC to do it for you.
