在美国护照中有这样一段话：“不管你身处何方，美国政府都是你强大的后盾”。在中国护照中有这样一段话：“请严格遵守当地的法律，并尊重那里的风俗习惯”。

我特意查证了一下，我的中国护照这么说的：

中华人民共和国外交部请各国军政机关对持照人予以通行的便利和必要的协助.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China requests all civil and military authorities of foreign countries to allow the bearer of this passport to pass freely and afford assistance in case of need.

我问了一位美国网友，本来想让他看一下他的护照，他给我email了wikipedia.org上的一段话，摘录一下：

In English:

The Secretary of State of the United States of America hereby requests all whom it may concern to permit the citizen/national of the United States named herein to pass without delay or hindrance and in case of need to give all lawful aid and protection.

in French:

Le Secrétaire d'Etat des Etats-Unis d'Amérique prie par les présentes toutes autorités compétentes de laisser passer le citoyen ou ressortissant des Etats-Unis titulaire du présent passeport, sans délai ni difficulté et, en cas de besoin, de lui accorder toute aide et protection légitimes.

即，由三种文字，英语、法语、西班牙语，写了（我想应该是）相同的意思，英文意思即：

美国国务院请求相关的机关、个人等对持照人给与通行，并在需要时提供所有的法律许可的援助和保护。 

自此，我想起小时候听得一个段子，说，有一个人说，中央的那些人，像国家主席，吃的好啊，然后有人问，他们吃什么？答：天天烧饼夹油条。
