"There's no place for the state in the bedrooms of the nation."

Trudeau's Omnibus Bill: Challenging Canadian Taboos
Trudeau
"There's no place for the state in the bedrooms of the nation." Those unforgettable words made famous by Pierre Trudeau in 1967 caused a tidal wave of controversy(论战) that rippled(ripple vi 在…上形成波痕) across the entire nation. Trudeau's Omnibus Bill brought issues like abortion, homosexuality and divorce law to the forefront for the first time, changing the political and social landscape in Canada forever.

He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone at her
According to the Gospel(〈圣经·新约〉福音书) of John(约翰), the Pharisees(法利赛人), in an attempt to discredit Jesus, brought a woman charged with adultery before him. Then they reminded Jesus that adultery was punishable by stoning under Mosaic law(摩西律法) and challenged him to judge the woman so that they might then accuse him of disobeying the law. Jesus thought for a moment and then replied, “He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone at her.” The people crowded around him were so touched by their own consciences that they departed. When Jesus found himself alone with the woman, he asked her who were her accusers(原告). She replied, “No man, lord.” Jesus then said, “Neither do I condemn thee(你): go and sin no more.”
