Mongol Empire challenges my values: love and justice will win?

M: The British was just a population in some islands.
M: Now, they occupies Australia, USA, Canada
M: and New Zealand
U: its because they built an empire…because they had a strong navy…and a very cool looking flag
M: oh,
U: and they are civilized
U: don’t forget
M: in the first and second world war,
M: A lot of British soldiers were from their colonies.
U: from the empire
M: German soldiers were Germans.
M: Most of British soldiers were not British.
M: right?
U: not true
M: what part isn’t true?
U: there some units from the empire
U: but the majority were actual British
M: oh, I heard of it from that history teacher.
U: well…so what
U: i’m telling you facts
M: So when British soldiers died, not British died; When German soldiers died, real Germans died.
M: At last, German failed.
U: not because of the British
U: becuase of the Soviet Union
M: Because of the cold weather.
U: that was one factor
M: It’s said that General of German wore women’s coat in the fight because they didn’t have enough clothes for that cold weather.
U: the best german units were on the eastern front fighting the russians
U: i suppose there were isolated cases of that
U: some russian soldiers did the same too
M: Do you think that German lost because they were against justice or just for some occasions?
U: They were simply outnumbered
U: it was a lost cause cause once they had to fight on 3 fronts
M: oh, sounds like there is nothing about justice.
M: We always are told that justice must win.
M: But when look at the history, it’s not true.
M: Just stronger one or even cruel one won.
M: like Mongol Empire.
M: Mongol Empire was really huge.
M: But it’s really cruel.
U: the mongolians didn’t build any great cities…they were nomadic…therefore their empire had no foundation
M: When I saw the part of history of China and Mongol Empire, I felt that it’s like the history about Greece and Roman Empire.
M: I saw an article saying that more than 2/3 of Chinese were killed at that time. I’m not sure if it’s true. But Mongol Empire was cruel for sure.
U: i’m sure all soldiers in ancient times were cruel
M: at that time, China was much more civilized. China had Chinese characters, painting, poems, etc. Mogolia just had fast horses and sharp knives.
U: yes…i think its true
U: like i said…the mongolians were nomads
M: Mongol Empire occupied the whole Russia, even almost the whole Asia, except some places in the sea.
U: no foundation for intellect
M: (nod)
M: have you seen the map of Mongol Empire?
M: I was sort of shocked when I saw it.
U: yes of course
M: It even occupied half of today’s Europe.
U: all the way to what is now Hungary
U: i’m surprised you just now knew the actual size of the mongolian empire
M: not just now
M: about half a month ago 😉
M: I saw its size on the map
U: and lived in that part of the world without knowing the full history
M: It challenged my values that love and justice mustl win when I saw it.
M: There is nothing to surprise about it.
M: There is a saying: when you are in a mountain, you can’t see the whole image of that mountain.
U: the winner in military battles is the side with the most ammunition
U: not which side has justice
U: it is the victors that write history
U: and of course when they write history….their side is complete with justice
M: yeah.
M: not because they are on the side of justice, they win. It’s because the victors will make people believe that they are on the side of justice.
U: now you are beginning to see the light
M: (mm)
M: not now. I know it several month ago. 😛
M: Your Anderson is hosting that show in Times square now.
U: i’m sure his hair is perfect
U: well…on that note
U: i must be going now
M: ok, enjoy your new year eve
U: going to meet my brother and go to my parents
U: Thank you
M: happy new year (hug)
U: i hope you enjoy yours as well
M: sure. tks. 🙂
U: 新年快乐
U: (hug)
M: (chuckle)
U: good night
U: (hug)
